Vinyl Booty Shorts
Recently, I’ve been on a sexy clothing kick, buying a bunch of stuff to sate my inner vixen. I saw a pair of vinyl booty shorts online and I bought them thinking, “Oh, those will be hot!”
When they got delivered, I excitedly opened the package and tried them on. Or rather, tried to try them on. I literally couldn’t get them up and past my butt. I pulled harder, and I heard stitches snap in protest. Maybe I could have ordered a size larger. But really, this material doesn’t have much give. If I had gotten them larger, they probably wouldn’t fit in the waist. What to do? Return them, exchange them? Give them away to a smaller-bootied friend?
Or, get crafty? Yeeeah. I like the sound of that better.
So, I bought 5 feet of red silk ribbon and got to work. I cut straight down the sides of the shorts…
And then folded the exposed edges in and stitched them down with black thread. I knew it didn’t have to be a perfect sewing job– just good enough to keep the edges down and keep the seams from unraveling.
I made little slits at the top and bottom of each edge with a sharp paring knife.
And threaded through the slits with the ribbon. To get the ribbon through the tiny slits, I stuck a pair of tweezers through the opening. I fit the end of a ribbon in the tweezer points…
…Then pulled the tweezers back out through the slit to “thread” the ribbon through!
This is the finished, laced up product. I wanted the ribbon ends to sit on the tops of my thighs at the bottom of the shorts, so I threaded from the top down.
And here’s what they look like on:
I hope you like the idea… you can incorporate this corset detail onto almost any piece of clothing if you think about it…! Happy crafting = )
Monday’s post: Pole Blahs…

OK Amy…you are not allowed to post hawt photos of you in booty shorts any more. Cold shower anyone???
ahaha Thanks Chemmie. I posted a side view because I thought it was the least revealing! You can’t even see my butt!
Ha I was going to post HAWT! but Chemmie beat me to it!;p
I’ll take all the HAWTS you’re giving out Sass =) Thanks.
LOVE THESE! Was going to jump right on the bandwagon until I saw the part about having to have a “sharp” knife to fully complete the task. Ummmm…I’m not allowed to handle such technical equipment. Sigh! Amy you are amazing!!!
Ok, you can use a dull knife but it may just take a little longer =)
Another option… I saw a tutorial before re vinyly undies.. It is work to get on, they had to baby powder themselves before and powder the inside of the undies so they could slip on. Then more work to dust off the vinyl and the bosdy. THEy suggested even storing them w poder dusted inside carefully wiping down the outside to slick and shiny. A lot of work to put on a pair of panties!
The vinyl booty shorts I had were more like a vinyl applied to a fabric– the inside of the shorts wasn’t vinyl, it was cloth. Seriously, there was ABSOLUTELY no way those things were going to go on– I pulled and heard the stitches popping like popcorn!
Amy,
I love your creativity. Such practical tips
Thank you! I hope you find a pair to lace up =)
