To the Turks I go!

About a month ago, I was in Miami for a friend’s bachelorette party. It was a while since my last girl trip (meaning a trip with just ladies, no significant others), and it was really remarkable to see all these different women, from different phases of my friend’s life, come together. She is one of the most down-to-earth, straight-up, and drama-free women I have ever met. You know that expression: you can tell a lot about a person by who they keep company with? All the people who travelled to Miami were such a reflection of how beautiful she is, inside and out. It was a genuinely amazing weekend and I am honored to have been a part of it, and I had so much fun getting to know some other people in her life who have been important to her. They were just as awesome as she is.

This weekend, I’m taking a plane ride down to Turks and Caicos to attend her wedding. I can’t wait. I’m sharing a villa with some wonderful friends, on a private beach, and I’m going to dance my ass (yes, I said ass, on my blog) off on the dance floor at that wedding. And knowing my girl, she will have crazy awesome music playing the whole time, great food, and the wedding itself will be planned to a T. I am looking forward to sand and surf time on one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world, lobster, jetskiing, and late nights with cocktails in tropical heat.

I’ve said it before– some of my best, and closest relationships were made in the pole studio (including the bride-to-be), but they grew and strengthened outside of it and they continue to flourish regardless of whether or not we continue to take classes together. I am so grateful for what riches that pole dance has brought into my personal life and grateful for these friendships that cross into a depth that truly makes me feel blessed.

I’ve been making more of an effort to hold space for my friends and boyfriend in my life this summer since I’m travelling so much and doing so much teaching (on top of keeping the 9-5 and teaching my classes at the pole studio every week). This has meant dedicating more time to building and enjoying those relationships, and not necessarily training as hard as I could, or being as attentive to pole– whether that means taking less time on Facebook, or YouTube, or any other social sites. So, this vacation, I’m doing something new, which I haven’t done in the year and a half that I’ve been keeping this blog…
While I’m on vacation, the blog will be too! Instead of rushing to put entries together to post while I’m away, I hope that you will instead join me when I come back, same place as usual, when I get back. Thank you to all of you who have entered the giveaway so far– if you haven’t yet entered, check here for how to join in– it’s giving me TONS of ideas for upcoming Tips entries! : )
