I’m constantly battling the straddle invert. I don’t have the ab strength to go up with straight legs, but even from a tuck I can’t seem to find my way to extending my legs and staying there. Help?
Tip coming Thursday…. stay tuned!!!

Do you have tips for the bridge? I struggle with keeping the arm straight, and when i start to arch back and let the lower body slide down, my arms cave in and struggle to hold my body weight. Help?!
Heidi, can you link me to a picture or video of the trick you mean? In the bridge I’m thinking of, the lower body doesn’t slide at all.
Hi amy,
Here is a link to video of the bridge
Check out this video on YouTube:

Heidi– your legs shouldn’t SLIDE anywhere at ALL when you do this move! You need to squeeze super tight and engage everything from your toes to your butt to keep your leg grip secure while you go into this move!
Thanks for commenting on my blog cause now I’ve found your great resources here! I hope you’ll come back and visit soon, as I will yours

Hi Amy! I would love to see a breakdown of how to properly lift (aerialy) into the Monkey. I can do it with a big swing of my legs but I’d like to understand a breakdown to better do it with control. Thanks!

Amy, I would love to see a Superman tutorial, or at least, how to stregthen inner thigh sits. My skin hasn’t gotten less sensitive, despite my practicing. Also, I would love to see more transitional moves, like from a Gemini to standing. Maybe a spin to an invert? Cartwheel to Scorpio?
Thanks for your great work!!

Oops!!
Hi Amy! How about: how to do splits (fast) or JB walking in air move?? Love ur blog!!
There’s a Tip on the split grip bodywave, the air walk is the same if you’re using the same hold, just different leg motions
Crap, I’m on the wrong page!
I am not sure what it is called, but I think the pencil. Would be inverested and straight up and down but arms are behind your back.
Split Grip Marion Amber! Iguana lift and Jenyne descent where you are parallel with the pole and pull back up, Reverse grab combos
I would like you to feature Marion Amber, I´m having a hard time getting in to that trick.
Coming soon
SIDE CLIMB! How do I make it look pretty like Leigh Acosta’s solo at the Ink and iron 2010.
Hello Amy! I love your site
Do you have any tips for getting from the cross ankle grip (or Bat as my instructor calls it) to swinging down then up into an invert? I just cannot do it without putting my feet onto the floor first!
when you say swinging down then up, do you mean going into a flag hold and then inverting into a brass monkey?
Hi Amy
Sort of. I mean from leaning back from a cross ankle grip to sitting up and grabbing the pole to then getting to an invert, so I guess from sitting on the pole to invert (which you could then do brass monkey from etc)… Sorry to be vague, I can’t find the words but I hope that makes sense! I am a beginner so only been poling a few months
I know it seems very basic!
Ah, gotcha! That’s a pretty specific combo
Do you have trouble with the invert part after the sit up, or the sit up itself?
The sit up is fine, I can do them all day
It’s the combo, if I want to do aerial and stay up I will have to master it, but all I do is swing myself into a hunk of metal repeatedly! Thanks so much for taking the time to get back to me
This blog is just fantastic!
I don’t have a good knee hold, but just by reading your posts I can say I have a chance at improving it, along with other tricks (I have yet to find out later when I pole, hehe). So thank you. I’m so glad I stumbled upon your blog!
Can you do a tutorial on the chopstick? I think I need to find a way to hold the pose with my upper body more upright rather than folded toward the front leg because when I do that my back of my rib bears the grunt of the weight and it really hurts.
Thank you.
Thanks so mcuh for sharing!!
hi amy! great idea to list and categorize the videos..very helpful and easy
can u pls give us tips for back flexibility too??.. personally my “problem” is that although i love that for my height i have long legs, this means my torso is shorter than people who have more equal analogies, shorter legs longer torso.. saying that i find my back a bit stiff… i do yoga exercises like the one u showed on the booty pop video but still feeling i wont be able to bend my back in order to do the dove pole move for example.. does shorter torso limites the spine flexibility? if so how can i look more flexible while dancing? im currently working on splits and hamstring flex..my torso though is what worries me.. i could say im flexible enough for body waves to look good and bearly doing the bridge/crab on the floor..any help tips or video will be highly appreciated.. thank u for taking the time to help us xxxx
